One of the favorite hobbies here in Rio de Janeiro is cycling. There are several places with bike lanes here in the city and the most famous are Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon beach.
It is a very pleasant tour and on the way you will find breathtaking views.
Those who do not have their own bicycle can rent the “Itaú Bike”.
It is a very simple system with several types of different plans: single, rent for 48 hours, monthly. This service has several stations around the city where you can collect your bicycle.
The Brazilian tourist can download the app and take the bicycle at any station. For more information, visit this website: Bike Itau
Foreign tourists are a little more restricted, since they cannot use the app and can only take the bicycle at self-service stations (see map below. For more details click in the link above “Bike Itau”). For the foreigner to use this service, a credit card is enough. At the station there will be a machine where you can purchase the service.
The plans available for foreigners are “Lazer” and “Avulso”
Lazer – Leisure: The price is R$ 20.00 (subject to change) and you can make as many trips as you want for 48 hours. Each trip can take up to 2 hours. Then it is necessary to return the bicycle to one of the stations (It does not have to be a self-service station) and wait for a while until you can take another bicycle (if you want to take another bicycle, then it must be in a self-service station)
Avulso – Single: The price is R$ 3.00 (subject to change) and you can make a single trip of 15 minutes. Then it is necessary to return the bicycle to one of the stations (It does not have to be self-service station) and wait for a while until you can take another bicycle (if you want to take another bicycle, then it must be in a self-service station)

O turista estrangeiro fica um pouco mais restrito, já que não pode usar o aplicativo e só consegue retirar a bicicleta em estações com auto atendimento (Veja no mapa acima e para maiores informações acesse o link acima “Bike Itau”). Para o estrangeiro usar esse serviço, basta um cartão de crédito. Na própria estação haverá uma máquina para você adquirir o serviço.
Os planos disponíveis para o estrangeiro são o “Lazer” e o “Avulso”
